Question about my personal Astrology?

I'm starting to take an interest in astrology and my whole life i thought that everyone just had one sign, but now i'm figuring out that there is a VENUS sign and a MARS sign. one representing how you deal with love and relationships(venus) and the other (mars) shows how you act, and your ego. is that right so far? And I kind of get the concept but it's still a little vague to me in that i don't know where one ends and the other begins..I would like to know from someone WHO REALLY KNOWS what they are talking about.. ******I'm a Pisces in Venus and an Aquarius in Mars.*****please give me some more details about how i work with those two signs...because sometimes the traits of each contradict each other.. but other than that they are spooky in how accurate they are regarding my love tastes..and how i act as a person.. just explain it a little more to me...so it's all clear..
